Trail Description
Ballintubber Rambling Loop begins at the castle in the centre of the village and is a fantastic way to explore the beauty and tranquility of the Roscommon countryside. The trail follows an old mass path through scenic low lying farmland and links in with the Suck Valley Way, a national waymarked trail. The mass path was used by residents in times passed as a shortcut into the village. Wilsgrove Rambling House is one of the beautiful attractions on the loop, this building was restored by the local community and it is where many traditional music sessions take place. The loop continues on local road to a quaint thatched cottage, known locally as 'Dream Cottage'. The cottage creates a perfect photo opportunity for walkers! The walker takes to the field once again where you will be rewarded with spectacular views of Ballintubber Castle before arriving back into the village.
